Andrey Santos’ move from Vasco da Gama to Chelsea is now complete. The Brazilian club announced the transfer today on their website.
Vasco claim to have agreed the sale ‘this Friday,’ naming Chelsea as the buyers, despite not providing any further details about the transaction.
In recent weeks, there have been reports in both the Brazilian and English press claiming that if the player does not obtain a work permit for the Premier League, he could be loaned back to the Rio de Janeiro side for a few months.
The main reason for this is that he has yet to play in the first division, as the club was only promoted at the end of last year.
However, with Vasco now bidding him farewell and wishing him luck, it appears unlikely that he will return.
Earlier this week, club director Paulo Bracks stated that Andrey Santos was undergoing medicals in London, so it appears that the entire bureaucratic process is now complete.
Chelsea is reportedly paying around €12 million for the transfer, which infuriates Vasco fans, who believe the talented youngster is worth far more.
