During a gun battle with Ebonyi State Police Command agents on Tuesday, one enforcer of the state’s sit-at-home order was murdered and others were injured.
Sit At Home Enugu: According to the New Telegraph, the state command also apprehended two of the enforcers and recovered numerous goods from them.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state police command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, and made available to journalists in Abakaliki, the state capital.
She revealed that the police attacked the location after receiving information that gunmen suspected to be IPOB were shooting in Okposi, Ohaozara local government area of the state to enforce a sit-in.
“On 10/07/2023, around 1350hrs, some armed men suspected of being IPOB/ESN members went to Okposi in Ohaozara LGA and began shooting sporadically into the air.”
“Upon receiving the information, the Command’s Operatives immediately swung into action, leading the hoodlums on a hot pursuit.”
“The hoodlums engaged the cops in a gunfight, which resulted in one of them being neutralized while the others escaped with varying degrees of bullet wounds.”
The recovered exhibits are as follows: One (1) bullet-ridden blue Highlander jeep
2. one (1) pump action gun,
3. Five (5) live cartridges.
4. Four (4) handsets (phones).
5. One (1) sumec fireman generator.
6th. Charms.
7. Various items stolen from stores.
8. One red and one black face mask.
9.Ten (10) used pump action gun cartridges.
10. Nine spent shells of AK 47 rifle ammo.

“The other fleeing suspects were apprehended with bullet wounds today, 11/07/2023, around 0600hrs, during the continuous combing of the bushes.” They are as follows:

2. Chigozie Udeh’m’, who was captured unconscious with bullet wounds but later died on the way to the hospital and was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Police Command, CP Augustina N. Ogbodo, is using this medium to warn criminals to lay down their arms or relocate from the state because it will no longer be a safe haven for them, and he also urged the good people of the state to do the same.”
