According to reports, just 24 hours after the death of prominent Yoruba actor Murphy Afolabi, another actor, Chikezie Uwazie, has died.
In the United States, the actor died following a second brain surgery. Chikezie Uwazie, one of Nigeria’s biggest performers in the early 2000s, moved to the United States nearly seven years ago.
Obey Etok Chima, a colleague, announced his death on her Facebook page on Sunday.
“I can’t believe I’m posting this.” Chikezie Uwazie is no longer with us. Following a second brain operation. Gini, emezi. This news came as a complete surprise to me this evening. This came from our IMSU alumni platform. I thought you said you were heading to the US for greener pastures. You promised to return a few years ago, but I never saw you. I can’t believe you’ve left, but God knows best. Rest easy, Chyko.” She penned a letter.
Prior to his departure, he appeared in a number of Nollywood films, including “Musical Whispers,” a film about autism produced by Ebele Okaro and directed by Bond Emeruwa.
Uwazie also appeared in “Village Destroyer” with Osita Iheme and Ugo Ugbor, and “Last Kiss” with Emeka Ike, Ini Edo, and others.
