Chelsea’s search for a new manager has suffered an early setback after one rumoured candidate declined the position.
Chelsea: According to the report, despite a report in the Independent yesterday claiming that Roberto De Zerbi was one option being considered by the Blues, he appears to be willing to ignore any interest in order to stay with Brighton.
De Zerbi has done a fantastic job for the Seagulls since taking over for Graham Potter earlier in the season, and it appears that he could have been in line to take over again after Potter left Stamford Bridge.
The Italian tactician would be wise to stay put, with Chelsea currently looking like a club in disarray following a flurry of major changes on and off the field since Roman Abramovich sold the club last year.

Chelsea will now have to persuade someone else to take over, as De Zerbi is not interested, which makes sense given that Brighton’s season could still be exciting.
De Zerbi can afford to wait a little longer for bigger club opportunities, as there will undoubtedly be plenty of interest in him after his strong work at Brighton.
