Hudu Yunusa Ari, the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, has reportedly been taken into police custody, according to reports.
According to reports, Ari became embroiled in a scandal following the supplementary election in Adamawa on April 15, 2023, when he certified Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner while results were still being collated.
As a result, Ari’s decision was overturned and he was suspended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Simultaneously, President Muhammad Buhari ordered a thorough investigation into the electoral commissioner and the security personnel present at the time of the declaration.
Following this, INEC declared Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the genuine winner of the election. Security agents were then directed to apprehend and prosecute the controversial REC, whose whereabouts have remained unknown for more than two weeks after the incident erupted.

However, on Tuesday, a police source confirmed that Ari is now in police custody.
According to Channels Television, this confirmation was obtained through a phone contact with a police source.
