Unidentified gunmen stormed the Isi-Uzo Divisional Police Station in Ikem, Enugu state.
According to The Nation, the crooks also stole police weapons and ammo.
The attack was alleged to have happened early Tuesday morning.
The intruders were claimed to have attacked the unfenced police station around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, driving a Toyota Sienna and yelling,
“Release Nnamdi Kanu!” and “No Nnamdi Kanu, no peace.”
“They entered through Eha-Amufu and exited through the same axis, but it’s unlikely they made it to Eha-Amufu township or crossed to Nkalagu; otherwise, they would have been met by soldiers in that area.”
“It’s possible they went through Aguamede to Benue state,” a source speculated.
It was also alleged that a police officer on night shift at the police station was shot but did not die.
Armed robbers terrorized banks in Ikem and Eha-Amufu in the past, resulting in the closure of banks in the area for nearly 10 years.
