Abba Kabir Yusuf, the new Governor of Kano state, has promised to investigate the N241 billion inherited from the government of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Yusuf claimed that the handover notes submitted by Ganduje through the outgoing Secretary to the State Government were insufficient and sparse.
He also blasted Ganduje for;

“Departing from established democratic” practice by leaving the state without personally handing over the state administration.
“The handover notes are insufficient for us.” It’s a very brief note. The transition committee report was also extremely brief.
“There is nothing we can do as state representatives; we cannot refuse to collect what has been given to us.” We’ll check into it. We shall take action where we are satisfied. Where we are dissatisfied, we shall take appropriate measures.
“It is really disappointing that the administration has left us with a debt profile of over N241 billion. Where are we going to get the funds? The IGR they’re referring to is nothing to write home about. The money they received from Kano Internal Revenue Service was insignificant. Why are so many consultants being used? Kano state’s resources are channeled through the rain in the same way. We’ll take a look at it. I am dissatisfied!
“I pray to Almighty Allah to reward him (Ganduje) for what he has done for the state.” We are not here to steal money or to take over their country. We are here to work, and by Allah’s grace, we shall accomplish everything we set out to do.
