When Graham Potter leads Chelsea to Austria to play RB Salzburg on Tuesday, it will be a rematch of his first game in command.
With that 1-1 draw, the Blues raised concerns about being eliminated from the Champions League, but two wins over AC Milan have since put Chelsea in first place in Group E, where a victory would ensure their advancement.
To advance to the knockout stages, they will need to defeat Salzburg, a team that is currently unblemished in Europe but has lost three of its four games, including a costly stalemate away at Dinamo Zagreb.
Due to a knee injury, Kalidou Koulibaly was unable to play against Manchester United, and Mateo Kovacic was also anticipated to be limited in playing time before a significant tactical adjustment was required to turn the game around. As a result, it is unlikely that the Croatian will begin this one.
Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and N’Golo Kante are still on the sidelines.
