CHE 3-LEE 2: Chelsea won Leeds United in today’s league fixture as they got back into winning ways after they failed to win West Ham United in their last league fixture at London Stadium.
It wasn’t an easy game for Thomas Tuchel side as Leeds United created big chances of scoring. Chelsea came back stronger and snatched all three points in the final minutes of the match. Here are the two mistakes Thomas Tuchel avoided as Chelsea won today’s match.
Mason Mount has been performing well in recent league games for Chelsea, the Englishman has two goals and two assists in his last two league games for Chelsea.
Thomas Tuchel made the right decision to start the Englishman ahead of Hakim Ziyech in today’s game. Hakim Ziyech has also been performing well recently, but it was the right move from Thomas Tuchel to start Mason Mount today.
Mason Mount scored the equalizer for Chelsea in the first half, cancelling Raphinha’s goal from the penalty spot. It was his sixth goal of the season and his tenth goal contribution in the league this season. Mason Mount became Chelsea’s top scorer in all competitions after he scored from Marcos Alonso’s assist. The Englishman was at his best today.
Another mistake Thomas Tuchel avoided was starting Romelu Lukaku ahead of Kai Havertz. The Belgian might have scored on his return from injury but Kai Havertz was more active in the forward position than Romelu Lukaku would have been. Kai Havertz was more productive in today’s match, Romelu Lukaku might not cope with the way Leeds United played. Marcelo Bielsa side played with more intensity, forcing Chelsea to slow their attack and preventing them from playing from the back.
