Despite the hiring of interim manager Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s season continues to deteriorate as they were soundly defeated 2-1 by a superior Brighton team.
Chelsea’s goal drought of four games and 390 minutes had been broken by Conor Gallagher, although Roberto De Zerbi’s team had control for the majority of the game.
Just before halftime, Danny Welbeck scored a header after Kepa Arrizabalaga had to make many incredible saves.
The Blues have now lost three straight games and gone six games in a row without a victory in all competitions thanks to a magnificent 30-yard strike from Julio Enciso.
1. Conor Gallagher
Conor Gallagher had an impressive performance, tirelessly driving up and down the pitch like a heat-seeking missile, supporting the attack and driving his teammates forward. His tenacious defensive effort was evidenced by a yellow card for an overly enthusiastic tackle, but he made up for it by proving himself as one of the most effective players in reclaiming the ball and creating offensive opportunities.
2. Kepa Arrizabalaga
Despite receiving criticism during his time with Real Madrid, Kepa Arrizabalaga’s showed his mettle in the first half against Brighton with two incredible saves.
Chelsea vs Brighton: Two Brighton Players Who Could Trouble Chelsea
The first was an amazing denial of Kaoru Mitoma in the 27th minute and then he followed it up by leaping to the air to save Evan Ferguson’s header. Sadly, he could not replicate his feat for the Brighton goal and had to remain rooted to the spot.
3. Enzo Fernandez
Enzo Fernandez impressed yet again with his passing range and impressive defensive efforts on the pitch. He displayed a well-rounded set of skills during his time in the match, showing the immense value he brings to the team.
Chelsea supporters eagerly await his return to the field as they prepare for their upcoming match, but they know Enzo needs some rest to ensure he’s performing at his peak level.
