Graham Potter has suspended Chelsea striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang for two weeks as punishment for violating club rules. The striker is expected to replace Kai Havertz in the position in Chelsea’s next game.
“Aubameyang appears to have reclaimed his place in Chelsea’s starting eleven. After serving a club-imposed suspension, the Gabonese international has been reinstated to the squad. “There’s a good chance he’ll start Chelsea’s big game over the weekend as the Blues look to get back on track,” Trevoh Ashley reported.
Chelsea fans have long demanded that the former Arsenal striker be reintroduced into the starting lineup. They believe Aubameyang still has the ability to replicate his peak form from his time at Arsenal. They will be overjoyed to see that an experienced striker has taken over for Kai Havertz, who has been, to put it mildly, ineffective in front of goal.
In my opinion
It’s only a matter of time before David Fofana earns a spot in the starting lineup. The Ivorian had a very good track record at Malmo, but Graham Potter is not convinced of his abilities in the #9 role. If Aubameyang fails again in that role, Fofana will be the last resort, and hopefully he can turn his good fortune into something significant for his career at the club.
