Chelsea’s problem is structural, not personal. Many people are quick to blame Graham Potter, but it is not entirely his fault. Todd Boehly should also be held accountable for his rash and, frankly, inept spending during the transfer window. Furthermore, the players are to blame for the lack of a collective identity and insecurities.
The Top Flight previously reported that Graham Potter had been given a final ultimatum. Essentially, he has two games at Stamford Bridge to prove his worth. However, simply dismissing Potter will not solve the underlying structural issues.
Potter has recognized this and has finally raised his voice for the sake of the club. Graham Potter, according to the Metro, has blamed Todd Boehly’s reckless spending for ‘undermining’ him in training. Potter has had to resort to sending players away for individual drills in training. No coach in the universe could possibly manage all of the players that Boehly has signed.
I don’t believe he actually thought this, but if Todd Boehly believes that spending obscene amounts of money on players the club hasn’t researched will solve their problems, he’s delusory. Unfortunately, football is slowly becoming a business, and the people in charge lack passion for the game.
On this one, I agree with Potter. Of course, it’s difficult for him to manage players he didn’t choose. Unfortunately, the role of a head coach differs in that they do not have as much say over transfers. If Boehly understood Potter’s long-term goal, he would sign players who would help him achieve it, but he believes sacking him is a better option.
EPL: Reece James named Graham Potter the worst Chelsea manager since 1990
I strongly believe Potter will be fired, but it will be through no fault of his own. Chelsea is currently toxic. It requires a significant change from the top down.
Is Graham Potter’s decision to criticize Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly justified? Do you agree with Graham Potter about Todd Boehly?
