Ngolo Kante could make his Blues debut against Borussia Dortmund. The Frenchman has been out for two months but is ready to go against the Bundesliga’s juggernauts. This comes just days after he and the Blues finalized the terms of his contract extension.
“Ngolo Kante has performed admirably in training over the last few weeks. The medical staff and coaching staff believe he will be ready to play against BVB. Despite huge interest from other clubs for a free transfer in the summer, his agent is confident that the 31-year-old still has a lot to offer the club,” Ian Baker reported.
Since Matteo Kovacic has been linked with a move to Manchester City, Kante’s return has not done enough to ensure that Chelsea will be a tough side in midfield next season. Pep Guardiola expects Ilkay Gundogan to leave as a free agent in the summer, and the only way to replace such a high-caliber player is to sign someone who is nearly as good as him. Kovacic, according to the Spaniard tactician, is that ideal replacement.
Meanwhile, the club intends to make David Zakaria a permanent signing this summer. The board is convinced that the 24-year-old is the ideal midfield reinforcement in case any of the club’s current players leave in June.
Zakaria is willing to switch sides in the, but Juventus is expecting Adrien Rabiot to leave and must find an immediate replacement.
Chelsea’s problems are gradually dissolving one by one, and it’s only a matter of time before Potter is given the opportunity to turn things around. The manager has been critical of himself in recent weeks, and a win against BVB will likely provide his team with much-needed breathing room and fan support.
