Chelsea’s European chances should be over after their terrible performance in the Premier League yesterday, when they were crushed 2-1 at home by Brighton. The Blues were completely outplayed throughout the game.
Despite Gallagher’s early lead, Brighton fought and put two past Kepa due to Welbeck and Enciso to claim all three points. The Blues have now lost three games in a row since Lampard arrived, and I’m sure the fans are enraged.
Meanwhile, based on the Blues’ next three games and recent bad performances, it is safe to say that their European aspirations are over.
Check out their next three games in all competitions.
Chelsea will face Real Madrid in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, as indicated above. The Blues were defeated 2-0 in the first leg, and given their current record, they are no match for the Spanish giants. The final two games on the schedule will be against Brentford and Arsenal in the Premier League, neither of which will be easy.
Both teams are vying for European football next season and have been in terrific form recently, so they will both be optimistic about their chances against a failing Chelsea outfit.
