As the Nigeria general presidential election is forthcoming 2023, a lot of the defections has been in the room of the day as opposition party, People’s Democratic Party,PDP, 5,000 supporters now joined the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC, in Borno State.
Including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in the state, Working Committee Minority Tribes and Associations in Biu local government area of Borno state, Haruna Garba, Thursday dumped their former party and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Biu is one of the largest and developed local government area, apart from Maiduguri metropolitan council and Jere local government area in the state.
Governor Babagana Zulum and the APC state chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, among other dignitaries were in Biu for the past three days.
Meanwhile, A lot of projects were commissioned including 60 classroom blocks constructed for Community School for Higher Islamic Studies, Mega School in Buratai, foundation laying for the construction of Vocational and Skills Acquisition Centre and disbursement of over N200 million empowerment initiatives in the council area. The ex-chieftain of PDP, Alhaji Haruna Garba, who led the decampees including women and youth leaders from different wards within the local government area into the APC, attributed their decision to the good and purpose-driven leadership style of Gov. Zulum.
