Chelsea transfer news: Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours on Thursday with the January transfer window fast approaching.

With the January transfer window rapidly approaching, Chelsea could look to sign a few players to help with their Premier League title push.

The Blues now find themselves eight points off Man City at the Premier League summit after a decimated Chelsea side dropped more unnecessary points at home against Brighton in a 1-1 draw.

Aside from the result itself, the west Londoners have picked up an extra two injuries to add to their current injury and Covid crisis that has hindered many positions but especially the defence.

It’s no doubt that they could do with some reinforcements to come in and try and resurrect what is looking a hopeless situation- one that could get worse if Liverpool were to leave Stamford Bridge on Sunday with three points.

With that said, football.london takes a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

What?

The return of the Belgian club legend has dominated the transfer news agenda up till this point but the latest update may have a detrimental effect on what happens from here on out.

The 30-year-old is reportedly open to making a return to west London but a recent up turn in form for Real Madrid has seen Carlo Ancelotti change his stance on a potential transfer of the winger.

But it seems Chelsea have made the crucial decision regarding what happens in this specific transfer saga.

The Sunday World have claimed that Chelsea’s main focus is their defence. Indeed, Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen are all out of contract in the summer.

On top of this, Reece James and Ben Chilwell’s long-term injuries could cause Marina Granovskaia to enter the market for new full-back reinforcements as a decimated Blues side risk being left behind in the Premier League title race.

Chelsea are the ‘most likely destination’ for Everton defender Digne, with Inter Milan turning their attention elsewhere.

That’s according to the Italian outlet who say the Frenchman has never been a ‘concrete target’ for the Italian side.

Digne is expected to leave Everton in the January transfer window following a falling out with manager Rafa Benitez behind the scenes.

That’s pushed him close to the exit door, and Inter Milan have been named as one of the suitors, with Beppe Marotta looking to add a left-back to Simone Inzaghi’s squad to provide competition for Ivan Perisic.

But despite scouting him extensively, Internazionale have opted against making a move for his signature in January which is another competitor out of the race which makes Granovskaia’s job a little easier.

Alongside this update, Chelsea are reportedly set to reignite their interest in the player in question ahead of January.

It is understands that the Blues met with the France international’s representatives over the summer, with Monaco then valuing the midfielder at around £35million.

Whether Kovac’s reported sacking pushes the 21-year-old closer to the exit door remains to be seen.
