The 2023 January transfer window has proven to be one of the most bizarre in football history. Several clubs across Europe have been working hard to close deals during the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have been granted permission by Benfica to complete the transfer of one of the world’s most expensive midfielders. Chelsea’s top target has been Enzo Fernández, but Benfica’s problem has been an annoyance to them.
According to David Ornstein via the Athletics, there is now increased optimism that an agreement for Enzo Fernandez to join Chelsea can be reached. Benfica has been granted Chelsea permission to conduct medicals in Portugal in the event that a deal is reached.
Jorghino has been sold by Chelsea to London rivals Arsenal. After the Moises Caicedo deal became complicated, the Gunners turned to Jorghino. The Italian Maestro’s contract in West London was set to expire in six months, so his move to Emirates Stafiu came as no surprise. Jorghino joined the title race, bidding £12 million to Arsenal.
Chelsea makes Gallagher’s decision
Conor Gallagher will stay at Chelsea because the club does not want to loan him out. Newcastle, Everton, Manchester United, and Crystal Palace have all expressed interest in signing the England international. There have also been permanent bids that, according to The Athletic, have fallen far short of Chelsea’s valuation.
