Luis Suárez Miramontes, a Barcelona and Spain great, died at the age of 88. Luisito, as he was affectionately known, died on July 9, 2023. The former Inter Milan midfielder is regarded as one of Spain’s finest players of all time.
He is also the sole male Ballon d’Or winner from Spain. Inter Milan paid tribute to their former player and boss in a statement posted on the club’s website on Sunday morning.
According to the statement,
“Saying goodbye to Luisito leaves us with a deep melancholy: the nostalgia of his perfect and inimitable football, which in fact inspired generations, joins the memory of a unique footballer and a great, great Inter player.”
In a tweet, FC Barcelona also paid tribute to the icon.
