Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank, has had a difficult few weeks.
President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele to enable for investigations into alleged abuse of office during his term at the apex bank, according to reports.
The former CBN governor was later arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on suspicion of illegally possessing a handgun.
The case was assigned to a Federal High Court in Lagos.
While the federal government was attempting to have that case dismissed in Lagos, it filed another 20-count complaint against Emefiele and two of his friends.

Emefiele was charged by the federal government of illegally obtaining automobiles valued N6.9 billion.
Emefiele was accused of providing corrupt benefits to Sa’adatu Yaro, a CBN director and April 1616 Investment Ltd.
