In the Champions League quarterfinal draw simulator, the Italian superpowers Man City and Chelsea were paired up.
Inter Milan will face Serie A champion Napoli in a simulated Champions League quarterfinal 2023, while Manchester City will face Chelsea.
The draw for the quarterfinals of Europe’s top competition will take place on Friday, March 17, at 11 a.m. GMT, at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
The two semi-final matches will be drawn next, followed by a third draw to determine which side of the draw will produce the “home team” for the final, which will be held in Istanbul.
Furthermore, starting in the quarterfinal round, teams from the same country can play each other, and teams that competed against each other in the group stage can be paired as well.
With this in mind, we decided to run the draw through a simulator, which resulted in some tasty ties.
Chelsea will play Manchester City.
City and Chelsea are pitted against each other as the Premier League’s representatives in the Champions League quarterfinals in our simulation.
City advanced to the quarterfinals of the competition after crushing RB Leipzig 7-0 in the second leg of their round of 16 match.
Erling Haaland did, in fact, score five goals, tying Lionel Messi’s record for most goals scored in a single Champions League match and assisting City to an 8-1 victory over the Bundesliga team.
Meanwhile, Chelsea defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to erase a 1-0 first-leg deficit, taking some of the pressure off Graham Potter.
Given the positions of these two teams in the Premier League, with City in second and Chelsea languishing in tenth, it would be a favorable draw for Pep Guardiola’s team, who many bookmakers have as the favorites to win the competition.
