Edson Castillo, a Venezuelan midfielder, was one of six new players unveiled by Kaizer Chiefs on Monday. The player was revealed by the squad to be in Mzansi this week, and he has now been publicly presented. The South American agreed to a two-year contract with a one-year extension option.
Castillo joined Amakhosi from Venezuela’s Primera Division club Monagas. Cole Alexander was the last player to wear jersey No. 17, which was given to Castillo. Previously, Shaun Bartlett and George Lebese wore the number on their backs.
Castillo will join his new teammates at their preseason camp in Mbombela, where the Amakhosi are attempting to restore their old glory under new head coach Molefi Ntseki.
