Mason Mount’s future at Chelsea is in jeopardy after he rejected a new contract that did not meet his wage demands, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the report, Mount wants to triple his weekly salary to £80,000, which would be in line with the deal Reece James signed in September. The club, however, reportedly offers him much less.
After a massive transfer spree and reports that the Blues may have to sell some of their academy graduates to deal with Financial Fair Play, the player is less certain about his future at the club.
This afternoon, Mason Mount expected to sign a new contract with Chelsea
Mount’s sloppy play isn’t helping matters. He has only contributed one direct goal since October 16, scoring against Bournemouth in a 2-0 win on December 27.
Mount’s current contract expires in 18 months, so there’s still time to reach an agreement.
Mount, on the other hand, will be looking for a strong indication that he’s integral to the club’s future plans, with Chelsea spending over £300 million on new players in January alone.
