Naira Marley, the head huncho of Marlian Records, has announced his plans to return to Nigeria to assist in the ongoing investigation into the death of former Marlian Records signee Mohbad.
Mohbad died on September 12 and was buried the next day. Marley, who is one of the persons of interest in the case, has been out of the country since August 31, 2023. He has been cooperating with the police team and has no reason to be a fugitive.
Marley has stated that he has no hand in Mohbad’s death and has no reason to be a fugitive. He has acknowledged that family friction is not unusual in the music industry, even among blood relatives. They had their own share of misunderstandings while working together, but they never degenerated to the extent of wishing each other death. Marley has chosen not to say anything since due to being distraught over his dean and to avoid jeopardizing the investigation being carried out by government agencies.
Marley has stated that rumors regarding the label being a drug cartel are untrue and that he is dedicated to proving his innocence and cooperating with authorities to clear his name with sufficient evidence. Marlian Music is an independent label run by a small intimate team that focuses on championing exceptional talent, breaking new acts, and nurturing them.
Marley has denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death and has never instructed anyone, friend, known associates, or fans to attack, bully, or harass him. He has shared his deepest condolences to the family and is committed to supporting the police and authorities with relevant information and evidence surrounding his death so that those responsible will be apprehended.
