Chelsea will look to pick up three points against their next Premier League opponent when they face Leeds United this weekend. Next week, the Blues will host Borussia Dortmund, who beat them 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 round last week.
The Blues, on the other hand, have seen Todd Boehly’s leadership spend £600 million on bringing in new players. Including Enzo in the £107 million deal, as well as well-playing Mykhailo Mudryk from Benfica and Shakhtar Donetsk for £88 million each last January.
Meanwhile, Graham Potter has struggled to return the club to glory days, with the Champions League the only chance for fans to win any silverware this season. However, the Americans plan to bring in new players this summer.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig’s highly rated center-back Josko Gvardiol. The Blues have been interested in the Croatian international since 2017, and he was on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge last summer when the two clubs were in advanced talks.
According to The Times, Chelsea will have to act this summer to avoid paying a £97 million release clause for the player, who is one of Europe’s most sought-after young players. Gvardiol signed a contract extension until 2027 in December, believing that his release clause would take effect in 2024.
Todd Boehly led discussions last summer when a fee of around £70 million was discussed, though the price tag was said to be too high.
