Manchester City signed Manuel Akanji on the deadline day of the transfer window to provide back up at the center back amid injuries succumbing some of Manchester City Defenders. The 27 year old international is believed to be impressive in his defensive tactics and he will feature well under Pep Guardiola.
He is expected to make his first Manchester Derby debut October at Etihad Stadium. Though Pep Gurdiola could have his preferred back four in contention, I believe he should make Akanji’s place safe as he was not signed to only provide backups. He needs some time on pitch to show his abilities and capabilities.
Nathan Ake and Laporte are some of the players who easily succumbed injuries and have spend quite some good time in the sidelines something that Pep Guardiola should consider and give Akanji more time on pitch to get used to the Premier League.
