Chelsea secured an important win in their Champions League clash against Lille at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

It was a really good performance from Thomas Tuchel’s men and the manager would be pleased with the result.

Chelsea started the game brightly as they created a couple of good chances in the opening minutes.

Kai Havertz found the back of the net as early as the 8th minute to give Chelsea a deserving lead before Christian Pulisic’s brilliant strike in the 63rd minute sealed a famous win for the West London side.

The major talking point of the game was Thomas Tuchel’s surprising lineup. The German manager dropped his record signing, Romelu Lukaku, to the bench following his damning performance in Chelsea’s last Premier League game.

The Belgian forward recorded just seven touches against Crystal Palace – the lowest by any player who played for 90 minutes in the history of the Premier League.

With Chelsea set to face Liverpool on Sunday evening in the Carabao Cup, questions have been raised on whether Lukaku should be given a chance to redeem himself.

Regardless of what Tuchel’s decision is against Liverpool, Romelu Lukaku’s days at Chelsea are numbered.

The Belgian forward is clearly frustrated at West London and it would be surprising to see him at the club next season.

There is no reason why Lukaku should stay at the club beyond next summer because Chelsea fans have lost faith in him.

Lukaku is an incredible forward but his fallout with Chelsea fans at the early stages of the season created a hostile atmosphere for him at Stamford Bridge.
