The Court of Appeal has refuted social media reports that a member of the panel processing complaints linked to the presidential election in 2023 has quit.
Social media users spread the rumor about Justice Boloukuoromo Ugo’s purported resignation, claiming that the judge tendered his resignation citing “demands to kneecap democracy.”According to Umar Mohammed Bangari, Chief Registrar, the alleged report is false and should be ignored.
FCT, Abuja, The chief registrar of the Appeal Court, Umar Mohammed Bangari, has urged the general public to disregard the rumored retirement of Justice Boloukuoromo Moses Ugo.
According to Channels Television, Bangari refuted the reports on Thursday, July 20, 2023.

Several social media users reported that Ugo tendered his resignation in response to “demands to kneecap democracy.”
They said that in his letter, the judge stated that he was urged to “cripple the independence of the judiciary” by finding in favor of a political candidate believed to be President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, addressing to journalists in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, the chief registrar stated that Justice Ugo remains on the panel of Justices of the Court processing presidential election appeals, according to a Premium Times story.
He also criticized the study, claiming that neither his office nor the court’s information department were contacted before the report was released.
