The White House has confirmed that no Americans were murdered when terrorists stormed a convoy carrying the US Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday, killing four people.
Two US consulate employees and two police policemen were killed. The attack happened in the Amiyi/Eke Ochuche communities of Anambra state’s Ogbaru Local Government Area.
“There were no US citizens involved, so no US citizens were harmed.”
“We are aware of some casualties, possibly fatalities,”
Stated John Kirby of the US National Security Council.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, also disclosed that the assailants;
“Made off with two police officers and the driver of the second vehicle in the convoy.”
Ikenga said that joint security forces had;
“Launched a rescue and recovery operation in the area.”
