According to Spanish media outlet El Nacional, Premier League side Newcastle United have submitted a €40million bid for Chelsea transfer target Eden Hazard.

The Blues are reportedly interested in bringing Hazard back to Stamford Bridge following his struggles at Real Madrid but face competition from Newcastle United.

However, Real Madrid are reportedly holding out for a sum of €50 million for the Belgium captain.

It’s yet to be seen if Hazard can be convinced to leave Real Madrid for Newcastle United.

Hazard completed his dream move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 after a hugely successful spell at Chelsea, during which he won two Premier League titles and two UEFA Europa League trophies. However, since his move to Spain, the 30-year-old has looked a shadow of his brilliant former self and has struggled with fitness problems as well.

From weight issues to recurring injury problems, Hazard has spent more time out on the sidelines in the Spanish capital than on the football pitch. To date, the ex-Lille star has managed just 54 appearances for Los Blancos, in which he has a paltry return of five goals and nine assists. To put things into perspective, he has missed over 60 games due to injury and fitness woes in his time at the club.

Hazard does not feature heavily in the plans of current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has not been impressed by the Belgian’s performances when given a chance. As a result, the Merengues are looking to offload him at the earliest possible and recoup some of the money they invested in him.

Transfer: Real want James in any deal list for Hazard’s returned

While Hazard might not be ready to return to Belgium at the age of 30, he knows his future surely lies away from Real Madrid and will be scanning the market for the right landing spot.
