Chelsea and Dortmund led 1-0 at halftime in their second-leg round-of-16 match at Stamford Bridge, all praise to former Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

Fans were outraged after Chelsea was controversially awarded a penalty against Borussia Dortmund in their crucial Champions League match on Tuesday.

Kai Havertz took the first penalty and beat Dortmund goalkeeper Alexander Meyer, but his shot bounced off the right side of the post.

The penalty was retaken, however, after three or more Dortmund players encroached, and Havertz stepped up to take the kick once more.

Meanwhile, enraged fans took to social media to express their displeasure with VAR’s contentious penalty call and how it was “ruining” the sport.

“VAR stinks,” one fan wrote on Twitter. The Chelsea player encroached ahead of the Dortmund player; is that another penalty? How was it ever a penalty in the first place?

Another fan made it clear that;

“VAR is ruining football down; there was never a foul in that game, if you look at from the two-yard encroachment had no bearing on him clearing the ball. In actuality, a Chelsea player was more inside the box than any Dortmund player. “.

Football is killed when Chelsea is awarded a penalty retake.

VAR isn’t doing well at all,” a third Twitter user commented.

“VAR is ruining football,” said a fourth. What a joke, take another penalty. “.

According to one fan, the decision to retake the penalty was a disgrace. Chelsea players made a stumbling run up to the box. VAR officials are an embarrassment. Picks for knitting”.
